"LAUGHTER"- The medicine

Laughter is your birthright, a natural part of life that is innate and inborn. It is a powerful antidote to stress, pain, and conflict.. Nothing works faster or more dependably to bring your mind and body back into balance than a good laugh. The sound of roaring laughter is far more contagious than any cough, sniffle, or sneeze. When laughter is shared, it binds people together and increases happiness. Humor and laughter strengthen your immune system, boost your energy, diminish pain, and protect you from the damaging effects of stress. Best of all, this priceless medicine is fun, free, and easy to use.
Laughter makes us feel good. And the good feeling that we get is that, when we laugh it remains with us even after the laughter subsides. When we laugh with one another, a positive bond is created which acts against stress, disagreements, and disappointment. It is one of the most effective tools for keeping relationships fresh and exciting. More than just a respite from sadness and pain, laughter gives you the courage and strength to find new sources of meaning and hope. Even in the most difficult times, when we laugh or even simply smile we can go a long way toward making ourself feel better.

Holi !!

Holi is a religious festival ,followed every year by care and enthusiasm .It is mostly celebrated by hindus. It is also known as festival of colors. It’s celebrated on the month of February / march ,on the month of Falgun Purnima. This festival is took place when the goddess Holika tried to kill Prahlas, son of Hiranyakashyap. The ritual symbolizes the victory of good over evil and also the triumph of a true devotee.
Every year thousands of people celebrate holi with their family and friends by splashing water, different color powders ,paints & balloons .I really love playing holi and I love playing in water but my family members never allowed me playing holi at my home, as it is one of the noisy festival. Children particularly enjoy this festival as they throw water filled balloons at passerby ….. and if anybody stares ,they have a ready answer “don’t feel bad its’ a holi”, and evoke a smile on irritated face. Besides, they have their water missiles called pichkaris to drench the person from far and escape further drenching. Even to do when I was a kid , I used to throw water balloons on people walking down on streets 3-4 days before he festival and then hide by my window.
After a long time ,I was invited at one of my friend’s place to play holi……5-6 of us gathered and from 11 am ,we started the watery game, which was full of fun. As it was my first holi with my college friends we enjoyed a lot by splashing water and colors. We almost use up 1500 litres of water but were still need of it. At last we had a sip of Vaang and ended the day.

LIFE AS IT SEEMS

Life is a boon. Everything in life is unpredictable. The lives we live are different from each and every person. Living a life might sometimes be the hardest thing to do. Sometimes, we must learn through the hard ways that life has more than what meets the eye. Life gives us pain, it gives us happiness, and it gives a lot of things to learn. The teenage is when we learn. We explore a lot and we learn a lot in life. For me, personally life hasn’t given the best of times. And you do lose hope. Yet, you don’t want to stop trying. Life is very unpredictable, you never know when it will end and it is a dream for every one of us to live life as happily as we can.

But sometimes the stories are different. Everyone has a story behind his or her smiles and tears. Some of us just choose to say it to the world whereas some of us just hide it away. Every small thing we do might have a big impact on the lives we live. Studying at a great college with the best people around and the teachers that leave an ever lasting impression on us is something we have to thank god for. Life has been hard for a lot of reasons, spilling each one out will not do any good but we must never stop trying in life.

Life comes only once and it is our right to live it happily and properly. We must work hard and then only will we be able to make a difference in life. The life we live depends on the road we choose to follow. A few years ago, a person very close to me said that life will never stop at a chance to bring us down, and yes we will fall down. But it doesn’t matter. What matters is the reaction we give. What matters is the will and strength we have to fight life. Life is a never ending road. Yes, there will be hurdles, and a successful and happy person must be able to cross these hurdles.

Having the best people around will certainly help you. And yes, I have all of my friends and my classmates and my teachers. All of you have been an inspiration for me to carry on and that is all that matters. Live life in such a way that every experience is worth the smiles we give. Learn to share, learn to provide, learn to care, learn to love and life will change itself. It just takes time trust me.

ESSAY ON LIFE

When does life really begin? Is it when the first fluttering beats of the primitive heart of a fetus start, or when the child is pushed from the womb into the world? Does it all actually start at the moment of conception when the egg and sperm meet and mix their genetic code together to create a new being? Who can say really? No one knows because no one is sure of when life truly begins.

There are many out there who say an unborn child isn't really a person, or even alive because it cannot sustain its own life. If this were true, then no one is a real person until they are living on their own away from their parents. When you stop and really think about this, without listening to the arguments about when life starts or if something is considered alive until a certain time, you would surprised at what you may find.

When the primitive heart of a tiny fetus starts to beat for the first time, it is then that it starts to actually survive on its own, apart from its mother. Though at this time, most mothers-to-be don't know they are mothers yet, they begin to change their attitude to a more gentle caring way and doing what they can to protect the tiny life inside them in many different ways. It’s that life growing inside them that started those mothering instincts. It’s those instincts that protect it from harm until it is able to survive outside the womb and until it can live apart from its mother later in life. Even beyond that point, any mother will protect her young from everything she can.

I'm not a scientist, theologies, or even a doctor. I am just an average woman with a child of her own. From the moment I felt those first fluttering of life within me and heard my child's beating heart for the first time, all thanks to modern technology, I have thought about when life truly began. No matter what, from the very beginning when the egg and sperm meet, it is a living breathing human being. Sometimes, the life cannot go beyond a few weeks inside the mother, but it’s still alive, until it cannot go any longer. There are times, when that life has to be ended, in such cases, it is still sad, but if the mother is to live, then it has to be done. There are other times, when frankly, it is best because there are other problems such as a tumor which is eating away at the child little by little. It doesn't change the fact the child had to die, but at least, it had a small chance and brought just a little happiness into the mother's life.

So, when does life really begin? I don't know, but whenever it does, it’s all well worth keeping it going, for the rewards are more than what anyone truly deserves.

SHE IS......

If February is the month of Love then March is the month of colors, the month of togetherness and festivity. Well, did we miss out something? Yes you guessed it right the international Woman’s Day falls on this month (i.e on 8th of March) so we can say that March is also the month to celebrate Womanhood. A month to appreciate your mom for cooking for you, to thank you sister for teaching you mathematics, and to make your girlfriend feel special for lending you a heart to listen and a hand to hold at your weakest times and to thank yourself (if you are a female) for so perfectly managing yourself even when you had a bad hair day, just thank yourself for being a fighter!
Well, being a woman is a true blessing, a precious gift. Only women can laugh and cry at the same time, she has the ability to make your problems hers, the power to adjust in all situations. She can wake up all night long when everyone is sleeping in their cozy and comfy beds so that she can complete her report. Today’s modern women are far more than just a symbol of beauty and attraction; they are gutsy, talented and they dare to chase their dreams, nothing is impossible for her. A woman can be strong and still embrace her feminine side.
From time and again she has proven that she is no less than a man. She’s reached the space and still is grounded maintaining relationships and arranging the interiors with that splendid smile. Who says it’s a man’s world? It’s a women’s world and men are just a part of it!

MY EXPERIENCE OF HOLI

As usual I had expected that this year’s holi would be the same as the previous years, unexpectedly I had lots of fun this year. My holi started with a color on my face put by my sister when I was asleep. My face at that moment was a fun to watch. I, myself was scared with my image on the mirror.
As I was so much excited to play holi, I got ready and went to play with my neighborhood friends. I played with several colors , Lola, and water over there without caring about my skin and health.at first I played holi with my family members but after a while to my surprise, my college friends too came to play holi with me which was a lot of fun. Moreover, I had “vaang” that day which was a little fun and a new experience.
So with the new experience and lots of fun, the day came to an end and the fun of holi for this year was over.

READING HABIT

Different people have different hobbies as per their interest & personality. It can be in various forms like reading, writing, playing & so on.I think reading habit is a constructive pastime that I frequently do.
Reading may include newspapers, magazines, novels, short essays & stories. It's a leisure that helps your mind to be creative.

It's true that doing something is better than doing nothing as an empty mind is a devil's workshop. It's not possible to read each & every articles that make no sense. What you decide to read purely concerns with the areas you are interested in though sometimes it might be a compulsion to be known to a certain topic as for project works .Never read just for the sake of reading.Read a book or paper only if it contains significance or else it won't make any difference.
It is also essential to check for the meaning of the words that you can't get.Looking up in dictionaries always broadens your concept & uplifts vocabulary & language.Reading a newspaper also gives you a general idea of what's going in & around the world that's rapidly changing. While reading magazine is mainly for entertainment purpose like music, film, travel, food, people & so on.Reading novels & stories is also beneficial particularly because it gives you an image of fact or fiction & further sub-genres like romance, horror, supernatural, detectives & scince fiction.

If you are keen on reading but somehow get bored as you start to imply then it is advisable to start from short article to longer ones.A person with reading habit understands a comprehensive passage in fewer glances.Last but not the least, students should not forget to read course books.

THE BEST ONES!!........DOGS

Dogs, these 4 legged living beings are no lesser than a human companion. ‘Actions speak louder than words’, though they don’t speak or talk to us, their behavior and attitude says it all.
From until that day I entered this world I am living with a dog by my side. Unfortunately, since dogs very short living life period compared to us, two of my companions have left me till now. Though they have passed away, still, all those memories of my childhood with them will remain with me forever. I still remember the day when I was 4 and I lost my first pet who was there to welcome me the day I was born. I cried the hell out. So my sister and dad brought me the same pup with the same name as my earlier pet. Recently after 15 years of togetherness I lost him too. That was a very difficult day for me.
The reason of me writing this article is to strictly convey to all those who read this that dogs are not dangerous. They are like people, if you respect and love them, they return the same thing back to you as well. Also taking good care of them is a must whether they may be your house pet or any other street dog. I feel proud to be a pet lover and an owner, seeing them wake up along with me in the morning while I go to college and greeting me when I return back home safe and sound. This is one way they express their love and respect to us!

KTM ROCKS!

Kathmandu is the place where my family originated and so did I. It’s been about 18 years since I’ve stayed in Kathmandu. Though I have travelled to other places of Nepal or abroad, the only place I feel most comfortable and safe is here, in KTM. Over the years, drastic changes have taken place all over Kathmandu; some positive some negative. The roads, buildings, houses, people, cultures and every other smaller thing in and around it have changed.
When I travel inside Kathmandu valley, I feel familiar with every place and people I come across. There is no difficulty for me to roam around KTM, wandering all day long or at night. This is my home place and I live my fullest in it. It may be New York, California, Milan or any other place that I may travel to someday but at the end of the day I want to settle in KTM no matter what its status may be in the near future. Though KTM has been crowded and there has been shortage of different basic needs like electricity, water, roads, I hope this would soon end and also hope for KTM to be urbanized and well managed in the upcoming days.

ELECTRICITY AND LOADSHEDDING

Electricity is the most convenient and the chief source of water. Petroleum is found in a few countries of the world. Its price has been raised so much that developing and underdeveloped countries find it very difficult to obtain it to meet their needs. Electricity is also not abundant. Electricity that is generated in Nepal is much below or need. It is generated in two ways-one is by burning coal. This power is called the normal power. The other is by using water power. It is called hydraulic power. It is also obtained by splitting atoms.
As a result of the low production of electricity, the production in mills and factories is suffering much. Our industries can’t develop as much as we want. For want of proper supply of electricity production suffers. Besides its use in mills and factories and irrigation work it is used for domestic purposed –for light, fans, cooking, heating and ironing. Its low production had led to load-shedding. It affects production and causes great suffering to people. Now a day we all are familiar with expression “load-shedding”. Even a child cries out ‘load-shedding’ when the light is off. This load shedding is caused by the low generation of electricity. Here ‘load’ means the current supplied by a dynamo or generating station at any given time. Shedding means reducing the load or amount of electricity. So load shedding means that the supply of electric current has been reduced. As a result the supply is cut off in some area and there is load shedding there.
Load shedding causes great loss, discomfort and inconvenience. A load shedding is harmful to the students because they have to study and to their assignments. Load shedding in the evening is very bad because we feel darkness in the time of light making. Sudden load shedding makes darkness and we must find matches, which is difficult. If we have not managed the matches in proper place darkness makes us crazy. The production of our mills and factories and small industries suffer much. Agriculture is also affected and pumps can’t work to supply water from the rivers, canals, ponds and wells to irrigate agricultural land. Office work suffers much as lights and fan are off. Trolley bus service does not work, Electric buses, trains, etc. stop anytime and passengers should wait for more time.
A load shedding affects domestic life very much. Students suffer most as it hampers their studies, especially during the examination time. People are put into great inconvenience and they feel boring during sleeping time because fan and lights are stopped. We have seen that load shedding causes national loss and inconvenience as well as discomfort.
As regards the generation of more electricity, more power plants need to set up. Every year more and more money is being spent for the erection of power plants. We hope to have sufficient electricity in the future for the development of industries, if more plants are set up.

AASHISH SUBEDI

HOLI..........

Holi is the festival of Colours which is celebrated by Hindus in various parts of the country. Holi is celebrated in various other countries like Nepal, Pakistan, South Africa, United Kingdom, wherever Hindu population is present. The festival is celebrated with vibrancy and vigour. It is celebrated on full moon day of lunar month of Phalguna, according to the Hindu calendar. It generally falls in the month of February/March according to modern calendar. The festival has a religious origin but there are no rituals followed while celebrating Holi. However, bon fire is lit up in several parts of the country on the eve of the festival. This is known as Holika Dehan or Dulhendi. There is a mythological story behind the holika dehan.
Prahlad was the son of King Hiranyakashyapa and was an ardent follower of lord Vishnu. But his father didn’t like his son’s devotion towards Vishnu and created several plots to kill Prahlad. But his all efforts proved futile. Then Hiranyakashyapa’s sister, Holika offered to help him in killing Prahlad. She had a natural gift of being resistant to the flames of fire. She took Prahlad in her lap and sat in the fire. But the result astonished everyone. Holika was burnt alive and Prahlad came out without any injury mark or burn. The moral of the story depicts that truth and faith is always powerful. And the good always wins over the evil.
Holi is the most expressive and effervescent festival. People exchange colours in the form of gulaal and abeer and distribute sweets. Squirting water over each other personifies the joy and mirth. This festival also dilutes all boundaries of class, creed or gender. After getting their faces painted by myriad colours and splashes of water, it becomes hard to differentiate the class and cast. Hence it also signifies the equality of being human.

LOADSHEDDING!!!

Burning issues of our country is crises of electricity. This have become the most significant issues for the country ‘s economy to deal with. . Electricity shortage and load shedding is a phenomena that is not new to we Nepali  as well. We have been fighting to this  problem of  load shedding  since long back and  still  the condition does not seems like improving.
Country having a power potential of 83,000 mw, which is equivalent to the combined installed hydroelectricity capacity of Canada, U.S and Mexico is providing hours of power cut every day. This might sound unrealistic to the people of some other nation but it is true.  As a matter of fact this has been the reason for the decline economy of our country. This is not an individual problem but it has become a national crisis.
During crises it is not wise to blame anyone but it will be wise in finding out the alternatives for crises. The development of hydropower projects is impossible without the help of FDI's and joint ventures because it cost around 100 million-200 million for 1mw depending on the projects. In this case, it will be difficult for Nepalese financial institutions to provide loans for big projects. So, we have no other choice than to join hands with other nations.
It is high time for Ministry of water resources and NEA (Nepal Electricity Authority) to come up with new policy so that it will have positive impact on domestic as well as foreign investors. New policy should be designed in such a way that their should be a win-win situation to both the parties. i.e. Investors and NEA.
This severe threats of the depleting power and energy has to be solve as soon as possible for the smooth  economical growth. It is a well known fact that the demand of electricity never goes down but the demand goes higher as the economic activities increases.

love

Some people say love is life, some say it’s the beautiful feeling in the world, some say its like air you can’t see it but only can feel and is all around us. Some say this, some say that but in real no one can define it exactly what it is? Everyone has felt it once. It starts when we are not even born. Our family loves us from the day they get the news that we are coming to life. Our mom and dad love us with all their heart and so our bros and sis do. It is said to be unconditional and pure form of love that we could ever find it. Then comes our friend love very essential for life. We can find this love very strange and very essential for life they say friend love is what makes us what we are and how we behave. Their love makes us special, gives power when we are weak, makes us smile when we are sad and help to discuss things when we can’t talk to our parents. This love is fun and enjoyable. Then comes the love that everyone waits for love filled with passion and attraction. It connects two people hearts in such a magical way that everything feels special and everything seems beautiful. Those who get success in this love are luckiest person and consider this love thing best in the world and for them who fail to complete this love turn their love into hatred and jealousy. And it hurts when you fail in this love.

Linkin park and me
Music is that thing which gives us the spiritual feeling from inside. I always like that kind of music which relates my life. I am not much choosy kind so, I listen to every kind of music. PAIN AND PLEASURE

It’s never easy to be at a new place with new people. It’s a natural thing for every person. But, still Ace provided me that environment with orientation; I got the chance to be familiar with my future classmates and teachers. All the games made me feel good to be at Ace. When our classes started I again felt uneasy but situation changed when I meet my new friends. I tackled the entire problem with my friends. Every classmate is very friendly and never let me think that I am an outsider. Even now its fun to be with them, enjoying tea after classes, doing assignment together, playing different games, sharing food and talks, doing social works and enjoying different festivals and many more other things with them. Yes, it’s a pleasure being in Ace but still as every pleasure do have pain. There are some pains like not being able to attend classes in Dashain and mine sister’s wedding. I had a NQ and I was not able to do my assignment of English. I hope my teacher would understand my problem.

                               Math Teacher
I hate math not because I m bad at it, its just because of my math teacher at school. It all started when I was in 6th grade. Dev sundar mandal sir used to take our math classes. Ya..in first look he seems as a normal man with black hair, long face, clean shaved but when he start his class his looks change and he looks scary as devil. I don’t mean 2 horns, tail, sharp teeth with some fire effect but he act as one and he got some scary power like he could see us even facing towards blackboard, also his eyes reach from first bench to last bench and every corner of our class and could say what you are up to. His weapon was a long stick which can turn our hand red and make them useless for an hour. I don’t know if he make plan against me or I was his favorite target but one thing for sure he ask me the question I don’t know the answer I am going to be punished. So, I and my friends used to take revenge in our own way by punchring his bike. He never found us but we knew if we are caught then we are dead. The only question that used to come in our mind was: is he a devil or a vampire or a werewolf because no human could be that scary than he was. We used to imagine dev sir in Dracula look drinking our blood, turning into wolf in foot moon night all these imagination lead me to my nightmare n I could not sleep for weeks until we went our school picnic.
The day before our picnic we (me n friends) held meeting in my house. We discussed about dev sir true identity. We watched every horror movies to relate dev sir with vampire, werewolf, or devil. Even though they (movies) were scary we manage to survive till morning. So to get answer if dev sir was human or not we collect some garlic paste, holy water and some locket with god ‘s image printed on them to protect ourselves. In picnic we offered him the holy water from church but he drank it without any problem, we also mixed his food with garlic but nothing happened, I even cut my finger knowingly but he put bandit on it. We even visited temple with him, he prayed and come back and offer us some sweets nothing worked. So we were now sure that he was neither devil vampire nor werewolf. He even danced, sang and played with us. I hate to admit but we had fun with him.
The other day in class we thought we could see same fun loving teacher but we were wrong he turned to same devil again with his angry face and long stick. But for one reason I was happy those nightmare never bother me again.

My dream

That recurring dream, I used to get during my childhood. I never knew if it meant something. But now I know what it was about. I used to see a black guy with black hat and black coat with a white belt. I used to see it every single night. I used to get scared every time. I asked my grandmother, what it was. She said you’ll know it later. Now, I know, it was nothing but just the fear of death. I saw my grandfather dying at my small age. Now I remember that dream started happening right after that. After I watched the supernatural things, now I feel that, did he tried to say something to me or it was just a dream.

Ajay K. Pant

Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, may not be good for foreigners but for Nepalese like us, it is definitely the heavenly place of Nepal. It’s far more developed than other rural areas of Nepal. Every person from village areas wants to come here in Kathmandu because of job opportunities, better education, health, security and other facilities. And yes I too feel lucky to be born in this city, got all the facilities, everything needed to better my life.
Weird but maybe even heaven gets some circumstance if there are more people. It’s not like before here in Kathmandu. It used to be peace, clean and safe but as I grew older, the whole thing has been changed now. Population has increased massively, more pollution and there is less security. It’s not just the Kathmandu like I knew before. It is changing and maybe it will change to its extent level. Yes, living in Kathmandu is not as easy as it was before but still this is the heavenly place for me and I want to live here my entire life.
