Living In Kathmandu!!!
Kathmandu: my birth place, my hometown and my life. A place which just cannot be described in mere words, one must actually come here to see its beauty. However, there has been a drastic change on the appearance and lifestyle of Kathmandu. The changing Kathmandu has its benefit as well as its negative impacts.
I’ve always enjoyed living in Kathmandu. As a child, I lived near Durbarmarg which made me love the place more. I have always loved the crowd, the glittering lights, the busyness and everything else of my hometown. Growing up in Kathmandu was an awesome experience and living with my joint family added to the fun. But things changed drastically for me after the massacre of Late King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev and the royal family.
The whole atmosphere of my own sweet paradise changed. The place changed into a war zone. Even my house did. Armies would climb up without noticing, people and policemen would throw tear gas everywhere which would get in our house too. People turned into blood thirsty beast. I was a child then who misunderstood most of the incidents but these led me to dislike my own home town.
Living in Kathmandu is so much more than my own small personal experience. I’ve learnt to love everything of this place even though that incident made a huge impact on my mindset, and to be truthful it still does. Living here one can have their own opinions on being either advantageous or disadvantageous, or both, and I’d go for both.
