I was born in
Kathmandu and have been living here since the last 19 years. For some people
Kathmandu is crowded, polluted and dangerous. I too feel that sometimes. Just
ten years back this city was a perfect place for tourists. There were green
everywhere, less people and vehicles but now since the people around the
country moved in here it’s densely populated.
In recent years the heart of the country has turned into a
centre for bomb explosion, robbery, murder and political mishaps. Not just that
Kathmandu has turned into a city that always sleeps because of the load of power
cut it bears. There are other problems as well that people face in Kathmandu
such as pollution, traffic, lack of drinking water, lack of petroleum etc.
There are different
difficulties in Kathmandu yet it is no less than any other cosmopolitan cities
in the world. It has large shopping malls, numbers of hotels and restaurant, clubs
and multiplex etc. Not just that it has been providing job opportunities to
people around the country and it has numerous amount of financial institutions,
schools and colleges, government organizations etc.
For any human being though they live in any part of the
world they have a different kind of affection for their home town. So, do I. If
there are threats in Kathmandu there are opportunities as well. If there are
problems here, there should be a solution as well. So I believe it’s our responsibility
as well to make Kathmandu a better place to live.
