THE TINSEL TOWN

It’s been 18 years since I’ve been living in Kathmandu. I was born here, I learned to crawl, stand, walk, run, speak and write here. Till date my short life in this city has been nothing less than wonderful. I’ve got a variety of experiences from this city. There are numerous reasons for which I love my home town. But yes there are also a couple of things that I dislike about it. People living in Kathmandu have mastered the skills of waiting in a queue for petrol, gas, etc. Moreover, the security here is so strong that even if there’s a bomb blast the criminal is talking with great relief to the media. How can one forget the pleasure when the power is on? I don’t know when Kathmandu will be free from all sorts of crisis and shortage. Another thing on the hate list is Inflation for sure. And Pollution always tops the list!
Ok I’ve complained a lot now let’s talk positive. Kathmandu is a city of monuments and holy shrines. We are blessed to have Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath , the Durbar squares and uncountable temples and monuments around us. Kathmanduites always have a reason to celebrate be it Valentine’s Day, Holy, Dashain, Tihar, Christmas, Id or Loshar. There are various events organized here. Being the heart of Nepal, the capital city it provides a lot of employment opportunities. The best schools, universities, industries and corporate houses are situated in Kathmandu itself.
No matter how difficult life is, people of Kathmandu are always jovial and not to forget fashion conscious. That is what makes Kathmandu bright and colorful at all seasons at all times.
